Illumination Design Exploration
Lighting design is a fundamental component of any interior space. Illumination provides humans with clarity, atmosphere, and presence. My exploration in lighting design intentionally pushes the boundaries of its traditional uses. Whether products focus on reflection, shadow, illumination, or materials, there is a defining language present.

Merlin
The Merlin Task Lamp was produced for a materials and process class that focused on concrete construction with a variation of aggregates. The specifications included an illumination design constructed with the exploration of cement binding materials. With concrete projecting its dominance as a durable material, a task lamp seemed appropriate. Its fluid shape is suggestive for idea generation and its material projects confidence due to its durability. Cast orthographically, the Merlin Task Lamp is made of Quickrete, shredded pink foam, Elmer's Glue, and low wattage LED's.

The Closer
The Closer was a product design explored for SCAD's Working Class Studio's product division sector. The design not only explores the use of low energy LED's, but also features a home for personal product placement. The deep purple felt pad provides users with a place for their most functional necessities. Whether you live by your iphone, or yours pectales, The Closer provides a space for a familar location for your most dearest items. Manufacturing can be pursued in a 2-layered bent lamination style or laser-cut profile sections.
